About this tool
This sfxr-style generator uses square, saw, sine and noise oscillators with envelope, pitch slide, vibrato, arpeggio, phaser and filters. Preset buttons generate randomized variations; Mutate makes small changes to the current settings. Sound synthesis runs in your browser, and exported WAV files are CC0 for personal and commercial projects, with no attribution required.
Make a game sound in three steps
- Choose a preset. Try Coin for a pickup, Jump for a player action or Hit for damage. Clicking the same preset again makes another variation.
- Shape the sound. Adjust Frequency and Slide for pitch, then Sustain and Decay for length. Keep frequently repeated cues short; use Mutate to explore small variations.
- Export your WAV. Preview the result, download it with Export WAV and import it into your game. Test it at the intended volume alongside music and other effects.
What format does this export?
Downloads are mono, 16-bit PCM WAV files at 44.1 kHz. “8-bit” describes the retro sound style, not the file bit depth.
Can I make an 8-bit voice or a full song?
This tool makes short synthesized sound effects. It does not convert recordings, generate speech or arrange music.
